As well as the idyllic walks Castlemartin is close to attractions for the whole family including both a theme park and a wildlife park making it an ideal location for a Family vacation or a quiet weekend of walking and enjoying the scenery. WDS Green energy were called in the help the owners of this busy guest house in the area.

The Problem:

The owners of this four star converted barn, holiday cottage property realised they had a high energy demand and it was important this demand was reduced in an eco-friendly way. Heating the stone walled holiday cottage using oil was very costly and, as prices were set to rise again, the owners were looking for an alternative to meet the heating and hot water demands of their busy holiday let.

The Solution:

After a detailed site survey was undertaken WDS Green Energy were able to provide the owners with a 8.5kW Mitsubishi Ecodan Air source heat pump which was retro-fitted to the property in only a few days with minimal disruption. Underfloor heating was installed throughout the building to distribute the heat provided by the heat pump ensuring all the room remain comfortable warm.

The Benefits:

Heating and hot water for the holiday cottage is provided by a Mitsubishi Ecodan heat pump ensuring visitors are kept cosy warm through the cold Welsh winter nights and saving the owners more than 60% on their heating bills which makes for considerable savings against oil.
Further income is generated for by the scheme under the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). The RHI is a government incentive to encourage the uptake of renewable technologies, such as the air source heat pump, and income is generated based upon every unit of heat generated.
This means that not only are cost saved versus oil heating but financial rewards make investing in renewable technologies an exciting and rewarding prospect.
